I need to quit trying it. It lasts just long enough for us to build something that will smolder for a long time once I burn it to the ground.

That is such a painfully accurate description... I've met couples who are happy in alternative relationships but oh so many more who fail at even that. The hard part is not knowing if it's a fault of your own or of society in General :(.
