i am ashamed to admit they were not my plums in the ice box not because they belonged to someone else but because i never liked them

in my ice box are peaches in plastic bags coconut rum and coconut flakes hard won raspberries and stolen grapes by the bunch (which tasted like wine anyway) and my favorite cherries with a wild eyed streak cold, white and pink i've been meaning to eat, but saving for a hot summer night

if they were an appetizer to your day had they been my plums, i would forgive you
