Clouds

This morning, I left you
sleeping;
warm and comfortable.
A stir, a kiss;
hushed words,
in the blanketed darkness.
A suitcase, a drive;
slumbering city;
a well worn path at this point.
Shuffle through motions;
routine;
another early flight.
Heavy clouds, Earth's blanket;
break through;
and soar above.
A faint touch of rose
and peach;
horizon;
far from here.
But above the clouds,
soft;
almost inviting.
They seem the very color
of sleep;
dark gray and deep blue.
Reminding me of the comfort,
I left;
so early today.
The first rays of light,
brilliance;
fall upon cloud tops.
They will never reach the ground;
seen
only by me and the pilot.
The clouds disperse;
clarity;
Lake Michigan stretches on.
Blues and greens,
jewel toned;
to the horizon.
Farms and fields,
hills;
rolling northward.
Towards the lakes;
Northwoods;
unending forest.
All seen from the view
of birds;
30,000 feet.
It's time to come down;
land;
rejoin the world.
To start another week;
hustle/bustle;
so much noise.
Just a few days,
remember;
and we will reunite.
But those days feel long,
stretched;
I miss you.
I would give it all,
my kingdom;
just to curl up.
In those blue/gray clouds,
soft
quiet
inviting;
in your arms.
Everything's brighter when seen from the shade, and from chaos alone colossus are made. Watching the forms shift in cloud heavy skies, makes me wonder if somewhere the clouds have formed eyes. And if by some fluke, be it fate or design, The eyes of the clouds might be seeking out mine. And wondering if, as clouds perhaps are, I'm thinking of them as they block out the stars.
