I sometimes catch myself doing something negative while tricking myself into thinking that it's neutral or positive, like following someone's instructions exactly instead of suggesting an alternative that avoids a problem they haven't noticed. Actions that aren't overtly aggressive, with negative effects and deniability.
Nowadays, I try to catch myself whenever I'm taking a course of action out of resentment or impatience. It's hard, because an angry mind automatically comes up with quick justifications for taking a path that jabs at someone else. But I'm getting better at recognizing the intoxicating smell of my own negativity and not letting it take control of me.
