Clueless

Sometimes I'm really struck by how clueless the people around me are.

You know the type who say dumbshit, hurtful things without ever realizing that they are being offensive?

One of my friends went on a rant recently that went something like this:

"I could be a psychologist. I mean, it's just listening to people whine. I'd probably just get a bunch of emo kid cutters, and I'd be like, 'I know what you can do to get better. Grow the fuck up.'"

I wanted to shake him. To scream at him. To give some smart ass speech in return. Hi. My name is _______. We've been friends for about a year and a half now, and, I don't know if you realized this, but I'm a psychology major and a cutter. Since clearly you don't know everything about your friends, let alone the other people in this room, it's probably best if you shut the fuck up.

But I could never actually say that.
