Loving you has started to take on a new shape. In your absence loving you feels like longing. A gentle but persistent homesickness. In your presence loving you has started to feel like a calm familiarity. Like an unfiltered sense of belonging. The same way it has felt with my first partner, for so many years. I didn’t know it was possible, but if he is my house, you have become my yard, a beautiful wild garden. Both of you being tended to with love… Both of you creating what it means to find home in a person.
Yes, I think loving you has started to feel like home, and at the end of each day, no matter what the world has had to offer me, there is nowhere else I would rather be than home…
Thank you for loving me so gently and so steadily that I have found home in your arms.
