Forgood

I think For Good is my favorite song from the musical Wicked.

It talks about how the people who are important to us, or ever were, leave impressions on us, and how we learn from them, and we grow because of our interactions with them.

I saw an old friend today. She and I used to be inseparable as little kids. We've haven't hung out for over three years, and we have gone down drastically different paths in life, but seeing her still felt good for some reason. We have almost nothing in common anymore, besides the memories of our friendship, but that seems to be enough. We talked for a few minutes, just catching up. We didn't talk about anything spectacular, didn't mention all the things we no longer have in common, we just talked about our plans for the next few years. And when we were done talking, we hugged and parted ways.

It was good to see her, but part of me is glad that we're no longer friends. I miss the old her.
