In May of 2026 I was contacted by a local creative to see if I would mind helping her for a few months while she recovered from a medical procedure. I said OK. I didnt have set hours. In fact, more than once she contacted me the morning of and told me she didnt feel good and would not be working that day. She also made it clear that it was just until she could get up and moving again.
The last Friday I worked as I was leaving I told her to text when she needed me. Like I did every other time I left. I didnt hear from her that week. The following week I had to move my things out of my work space into storage and I was totally beside myself. I felt like someone had just turned my entire life upside down. However, that Sunday evening I still contacted her and told her if she needed me to contact me. No reply again.
Three weeks go by and she text me and I really dont even remember what it said but it wasnt the nicest message I have ever received. I let it go. Keep in mind she prints all of my decoupage paper for me. I sent her three images to print and wanted to order three of hers. She replied with, are you still going to work for me. Now keep in mind she is up moving. So I replied sure. I am sorry I just thought it was while you couldn't get around. I am avaliable this week. I also told her what days. Guess what no reply. The next week I text her available times with no reply.
At this point, I have had enough of people and their bullshit. Moving forward if I sense one little thing that I feel is someone thats not for me I am completely cutting people off. I did it just last week and it was the most amazing feeling!
It's been a tough few weeks and I am barely hanging on. Today my friend called me and said I want to do something nice for you. What could I get you to make life a little bit easier for you. At first I said nothing. He would not accept that answer. I thought a printer so I can print my own stuff would be phenomenal.
This Wednesday my new printer will be delivered along with the rice paper I need to make all of my own decoupage papers. Now she wont be the only person that does it and I no longer have to deal with the bullshit. What a relief. Also, what a wonderful gift. I dont feel like it right this second but I know I am beyond blessed!
